How does the MANA RUTF get to the children who need it?
We partner with MANA to produce the RUTF, and then with aid organizations to distribute it to children in need. Our partners work with local governments and health departments to target the areas that are in need, and then typically distributes the RUTF through local clinics and health programs. Don't get the wrong idea, these packets are not a hand out. This is a medicine targeted to treat a specific disease!
How many packets of MANA does it take to treat a child?
It can vary depending on how malnourished a child is, but typically 3 packets of MANA are fed to a child each day for 4-6 weeks. These treatments have a 96% cure rate, and children are able to develop a healthy immune system, strong bones and increased brain activity!
Is Good Spread the same as the peanut butter that goes to malnourished kids?
No! Good Spread is a natural peanut butter blended with honey. The medicine that goes to malnourished kids is called MANA RUTF, a peanut butter based treatment with milk and multivitamins targeted for children suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition!
A Lifesaving Peanut Butter? Huh?
Crazy, right? We were born from MANA Nutrition, a non-profit that makes a life-saving peanut butter medicine called Ready-To-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) for children suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM). SAM is the leading cause of death in children worldwide, but it has a cure! Every time you buy Good Spread, we provide a packet of RUTF to a malnourished child through a partnership with MANA Nutrition.
What's in Good Spread?
We use organic peanuts, non-gmo, sustainably sourced ingredients and a dash of love for good measure. We source all of our ingredients with transparency and integrity, from our organic banana bits in our honey banana flavor to our fair trade chocolate in our chocolate pretzel spread. We also use a sustainably sourced palm oil from family-run farms in Ecuador in a partnership with Palm Done Right.
Where can I buy Good Spread?
We're adding new retailers in new states every month, but right now we're primarily available at Kroger stores in Tennessee in the natural food section, Whole Foods Markets in the Rocky Mountain region and a handful of independent, natural grocers in Tennessee, California, Georgia and Colorado. If you aren't in any of those places, you can either buy it right here on our site or on Amazon!
How did your Winnebago blow up?
This is tough to type. We heard a loud pop while driving on the PCH near Pepperdine University in Malibu, pulled over on the beach and noticed a small flame coming out of the rear tire well. After trying to dump buckets of water on it (which did no good), the fire department came and told us to back up. Seconds later, the flame hit the propane tanks in the back and... well, the rest is history. Don't worry though, she will live again. LIKE THE PHOENIX FROM THE ASHES, SHE WILL RISE!
